Dear Payap friends and professors…

I am having a great time here in UWEC. People are so nice. I have many international friends such as Japanese, Malaysian, Hong Kong, and Korean. I have homework in English class everyday and many many homework I know will make my English perfect but it was very hard for me during the first and second weeks but now I’m ok. I can adjust my thinking and my time to do homework, pratice my music and enjoy the sunshine outside.

My first performance at downtown Eau Claire was very nice. It was my first time to perform in the US and with sunshine on an outdoor stage…

I think it’s a lucky first step for me to study abroad. I have met many good people. I think Eau Claire, like Chiang Mai, is a comfortable town. I just need to improve my language but I think it’s getting better everyday.

I cooked Thai food for my Japanese friend Mayumi’s birthday ,’Tom Yum Kai’ and ‘Kaeng Kaeww Waan Kai.’ Everyone loved Tom YUM Kai. They told me…it’s spicy but it’s nice….. I love this word

Hope everything in Thailand is find. I really miss Chiang Mai:)

Welcome Ceremony at PIH!

On Wednesday, 27 August 2008, Paradornparp International House (PIH) hosted a welcome ceremony and dinner for the new students from abroad. The evening was filled with ice-breakers and other games and cultural presentations, not to mention the yummy variety of food. The “bai see su kwan” or “Spirit-Calling Ceremony” was performed to symbolize unity and the coming together of the PIH community.

On Monday, 25 August, the Office of International Affairs arranged a welcome dinner at Khum Khantoke Northern Thai Dinner Show near Payap for our 19 new students in the Thai and Southeast Asian Studies Program as well as for our 9 exchange students from Asia (China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan) this semester.

Mutita joins UWEC Women’s Chorus!

As Robert Shaw once said, “Music is the voice of the spirit.” Mutita just joined the UWEC Women’s Chorus which has over eighty members! Thus far, Women’s Chorus consist of eighty + students. Twenty are returning members. Fantastic! Her conductor encouraged everyone in the chorus to bring their best attitude, their unique personality so they can all learn and have fun together! Mutita will bring her bubbly personality and special Thai touch to this chorus! Their schedule of events for this semester is:

Dear Friends,

I’m in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA now. I am staying at my host family’s house; they’re so nice. I will go to the dormitory this Monday & they will have orientation all next week.

The trip to the US was pretty good trip but there was a little problem with the van reservation to Eau Claire but it’s ok now..i arrived in Eau Claire @ 11.30 on 22 AUG ( so in Thailand it was at night). I was very sleepy and took a rest and have just woken up which means its night time in Thailand…

Tomorrow I will go to what is called a “Farmer’s Market” festival with my hostfamily. There son’s name is Karl and he will play guitar with his band (he plays jazz guitar!!) I will take photo for all of you…
This is my first time in Eau-Claire and I feel that Eau-Claire is like something out of a dream, it’s such a pretty town. The houses and buildings are very pretty and the weather is warm now. But I love my lovely Chiang Mai most!!

Oh……..OBAMA will come to EAU CLAIRE this weekend and I’m very lucky to meet him!

By the way, I have a chance to perform a recital here on the 20th of September. Hope you guys will pray for me to do the best for the College of Music at Payap and to represent THAILAND!!
I will play the song of King Bhumipol & some American composition….
I hope I will have more time to practice!!!!
I really miss Thailand now..also Thai food…haha…I don’t like bread any more:-)

2008-2009 Payap students abroad

The Office of International Affairs at Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand runs a study abroad program that gives students enrolled at Payap an opportunity to study in another country and experience life outside of Thailand for one semester or one academic year. There are many different opportunities, especially in the USA, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and other parts of Asia. You don’t have to be a Thai citizen to study abroad through the program; you simply need to be an enrolled student at Payap. Students of all nationalities are encouraged to participate. Although every partner school’s agreement with Payap is different, students usually only pay Payap tuition, airfare, and personal expenses.
